Question:
Im thinking stuff like Twilight (which is my fave series ever, it will always be a part of me, in my heart) Kim Harrisons Rachel Morgan series (who loves Jenks like i do!!!)
OK, if you want an incredible romance and you aren’t afraid of long books — start on “Outlander”, by Diana Gabaldon. Time travel, romance, science fiction. She’s written six books in the series that are about 800 pages each, and have one or two more in the works.
Try the Dark Material Trilogy. The Golden Compass and its succeeding volumes. It is a romance and a philosophical fantasy. However, you need to be careful not to take the philosophy too literally because it is about 180 degrees opposite of what society should be. The point is that in the story, society has broken down and so independent rebellion has become necessary. The fact that the rebels are “godless” and the corrupt society are supposedly “godly” is the backwards part. It is bad people that turn things upside down, not the doctrines themselves. The rebels are portrayed as espousing every good quality that “godly” people should have. It is a thought provoking series.
Jinx by Meg Cabot. If you liked Twilight, then you’ll like this book. It’s about a girl who has bad luck all the time so she moves in with her aunt and uncle. He sister is into witchcraft and I don’t want to spoil the rest, but it fairly good.
The Mediator series by Meg Cabot. I’ve only read the first two, but they are VERY good. It’s about a girl named Suze who moves to California from New York because her mother just remarried. Oh, and Suze can see ghosts…
Paranormals have been a popular sub-category of romance for several years now. If you are talking YA, I can’t recommend anything as I don’t read YA stuff. If you mean adult paranormal romance, there are quite a bit of really good choices out there. Some examples, J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole, Gena Showalter, Lynsay Sands, MaryJanice Davidson, Angela Knight, Lynn Kurland, Karen Marie Moning, etc. In urban fantasy laced with romance (but not romance as such), Laurel K, Hamilton and Charlain Harris are super popular.
You could try the “Daughters of the Moon” series and the “Song of the Lioness” series (by Tamora Pierce) b/c they both have the action and love stories much like Twilight.
“The Golden Compass” is also excellent. Great love story, fast moving, and meaningful.
I hated the “Mediator” series, too childish (by Meg Cabot), but her series “1-800-Where-R-You” is good.
Any books by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes are amazing! There is In The Forest of The Night, Demon In My View, Shattered Mirror, Midnight Predator. And then there is the The Kiesha’ra series: Hawksong (the best in the series!), Snakecharm, Falcondance, Wolfcry and Wyverhail.
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause
Daughters of Destiny series: Keeper of the Winds by Jenna Solitaire, If you enjoyed the first one check out the next three books in the series. Keeper of the Waters, Keeper of the Flames and Keeper of the Earth.
The Abhorsen Trilogy (Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen) by Garth Nix
A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels and The Far Sweet Thing by Libba Bray
The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray by Chris Wooding
The Morganville Vampire series (Glass Houses, Dead Girls Dance, Midnight Alley and Feast of Fools) by Rachel Cain
