August 12, 2011 I need a GOOD paranormal romance, could you help me find a really good one?
Question:
I have read many a Y/A paranormal romance, and I reall want to read one but a goooood one. I’ve read Twilight and the other vampire ones out there (except Silver Kiss which I want to), I’ve read all sorts of other types too. I plan on reading Kissed By An Angel that looks superb.
It’s just with most of these stories… the concept is cute, the plot predictable, most characters weak or mary sues, and the writing is poor, far from dazzling (a lot of these are published by Ace/Roc I hate their stories).
Could someone please recommend a wonderful paranormal romance that’ll knock my socks off?

One series that i would seriously recommend you reading would be the His Mortal Instruments trilogy by Cassandra Clare, there is a bit of romance in it but above all they are young adults sci-fi/fantasy books that you can really sink your teeth into, sometimes the plot is a bit predictable but over all it is a great read.
This book includes; Vampires, Werewolves, Romance, Angels, action, Mystery, and intrigue.
Another that i would recommend would be The Genesis of Shannara by Terry Brooks, he is a great author, though they are probably more on the way up towards adults books than young adults books but they are still amazing.
I hope this helps

If you are up to the fact that they are adult fiction, I would strongly suggest the Carpathian series by Christine Feehan. They are Vamps with a difference. First one is Dark Prince.
She also writes about 7 witch sisters. They are extremely good too. She just finished the series and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next, maybe werewolfs?
She has written some about leopard shapeshifters too. Try Wild Rain.
Not quite paranormal but still is in a way is a series of her’s that tell about men and women who were changed by a kind of mad scientist. The have powers now and have formed a paramilitary group known as the Ghostwalkers.
All of these books have one thing in common, very alpha men. The ladies aren’t weaklings either.
Also try Lynsay Sands. She has a series of Vamps from Atlantis. First one, Love Bites.
Do remember that all of these do have rather graphic sex scenes.

Have you considered looking into free online fiction? There’s a hoard of good stuff out there on the web that you can read, and all at no cost to you!
Hmm… When it comes to paranormal romance, for example, I could recommend this serial called “Strange Little Band” which you can read for free over here –> http://www.strangelittleband.com/
It’s NOT YA. It’s about these two psychics who hate each other but have a baby together and start having feelings for each other. The characters are all pretty complex, and there’s a lot of subtext to it as they both work for this evil corporation.
Definitely worth reading, and you could find loads of other things over on http://webfictionguide.com/ which lists online fiction sites!
Hope this helps
