August 23, 2011 I’m writing a vampire paranormal romance book. What do you think of the plot?
Question:
I am writing a Vampire Paranormal Romance book that is a little different than any I have come across, and want the opinion of the people who read them.
Synopsis:
Brooke, the main character, is witness to a vampire virus outbreak and her familys abduction. Two months later we pick up with Brooke. She has taken shelter in a secret military bunker and has learned how to shoot and how to fight. She escapes the bunker during daylight and meets a Marine named Riz, who lets her in on the secrets of the virus and the secrets to her heart. Together, Brooke and Riz, journey to New York City to find Brookes family, who are being held in a prison ran by vampires, who use their prisoners as blood donors. Brooke and Riz are separated in New York where Brooke runs into an unusually kind vampire, Alexander, who changes her mind about many things. Come to find out, Alexander has been kept in an underground jail cell at a military base since the 1800′s; one of only eight remaining full-blooded vampires who were tortured and experimented on to create a super bio-weapon, until the weapon is turned against the very people who seek to make it. Alexander helps Brooke get around his fellow vampires to find Riz and continue on her quest to find her family.
So, what do you think? It is a work in progress and I know the above is kind of spacey. I promise though, it makes more sense in the book. LOL. I am on about page fifty where Riz and Brooke have just went through their first fight. There are going to be many fight scenes and love scenes in this book, as well as wit and self-discovery. I want to know peoples honest opinions of the plot. Only serious answers please. Oh, and if anyone has any idea on how to get published, that info would be very helpful and very welcome.
Thanks— Kelly

I actually think it’s really good! Never thought of vampirism being used as a bio weapon – I like it
I would try and keep werewolves and shapeshifters out of it though, that’s been done to death!
The only other piece of advice I have is to keep the “action” as true to life as possible which means lots of research – especially if you are writing for adults.
If it’s young adult or teen fiction, you can get away with glossing over the details but don’t do that – write something gritty and real. That’s what I’d read.
Best of luck.

When I saw the title of your question I thought ” oh ,here we go , another twilight rip-off” , but it does sound very interesting .When you’re writing it be sure to write down important facts ,such as the characters birthdays so that you don’t contradict yourself at different points in the book . I wish you the best of luck , the plot really does sound good

I like it – as long as you make her a kick ass chic and not too dependent on her male helper I’m in! Do you have a blog? Let us know where to find you!
