Hmmm…paranormal romance with no vampires. That’s a tough one, but I think I have some suggestions.
1. Laurell K Hamilton – Merry Gentry series (she’s a fairie princess that is about to inherit the crown). Full of action, adventure and romance.
2. Patricia Briggs (Moon Called, Blood Bound, Iron Kissed, and more to come) about a shifter (Mercy) who is just a really strong person. There is just a little romance. She interacts with werewolves, vampires and the fae. The second book, Blood Bound, has to do with the vampires. The rest of the books in this series, they are in the background.
3. Kelley Armstrong – Women of the Otherworld series (follows a few different women. Each book focuses on one person. There are werewolves, psychics and witches). I don’t remember any vampires in this series, so if there are some, they’re definitely not main characters.
4. Heather Graham writes a bunch of paranormal romance without vamps. Here are a few: The Vision, The Seance, The Dead Room.
5. The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes by Jennifer Crusie, Eileen Dreyer, and Anne Stuart. I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but it turned out to be a fun, light read. It’s about these 3 sisters that are witches. They ran away from their aunt, but she’s looking for them because she wants their power. Each of the girls end up finding love in the mix.
That’s all I can think of that I’ve read. What do you have against vampires anyway?

Witches: Kim Harrison is ok
Werewolves: Lori Handeland. The first one kicked Major Ass.
Wilderness by Dennis Danvers
Kelley Armstrong.
Carrie Vaughn – The Kitty series.
Patricia Briggs is good. I’ve been enjoying her Mercedes Thompson series and look forward to the next one.
Psychics: Kay Hooper.
NEW! Victoria Laurie. She writes two series – one is an intuitive investigator and the other is a ghostbuster. Both are winners in my book!
Keri Arthur.
Romance/Erotica: Eden Bradley. Damn she’s good! The first two I read focused on the d/s world but Exotica is more vanilla.
Others I’ve read and enjoyed but no longer pursue: Heather Graham/Kat Martin (same person), Gena Showalter, Rebecca York, Linsay Sands, MaryJanice Davidson, Kathy Love, Katie Macalister, Kerrelyn Sparks, Rosemary Laurey…
