Question:
Everyone tells me that if I want to read steamy romance books I should read Nora Roberts but All I have read are paranormal/fantasy romance/passion books. I love the love infatuation and then coming to a heated passion but like I said, I have not ventured out. What do I do? I also like the mystery and action but I just don’t know where to look. I obviously prefer the more adult content books, after all I am an adult but have read many YA books. Please give me some suggestions!!

Why would you be afraid to read anything? Just try stuff out and see what you like. Browse through the romance section, open something up.
the “Young Adult” section of the book store is a total insult to teenagers. As a 16 year old I was insulted at the garbage that was recommended to my age group.

I don’t really know what you’re asking. Do you not want to read paranormal romance books anymore, or do you just want some that are more adult?
If it’s the later, you might like The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It’s a paranormal mystery series told from the perspective of a guy; there’s quite a bit of romance though, especially in the first few books. And they’re not kids books. Things are pretty mature at times, but there’s plenty of humor too.
You also might want to read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I guess it could be classified has historical fiction, but later on it gets some paranormal and romance themes.
A completely non-supernatural series is by Kathy Reichs. I really like her books, and most of the time I only read fantasy. They’re mysteries in the same vein as shows like CSI and Bones, but they have romance as well.

Nora Roberts has some good paranormal books that you might like. I recently finished her Circle Trilogy which I really enjoyed. The first book is called Morrigan’s Cross. Under her pseudonym J.D. Robb she also has a mystery series called the In Death series which is really good. The first book is called Naked in Death. There is also a romance throughout the series. I enjoy paranormal romance myself. Some of my favorites:
- The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon
- The Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton
- The Aisling Grey Guardian series by Katie MacAlister
- The Drakon series by Shana Abe
- The Carpathians (Dark) series by Christine Feehan
- Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
- The Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning
- The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward

Sweet mother of God, YES! Read Nora Roberts. She is like my goddess of romance. AND…best of all…she doesn’t overdo the sex scenes (yeah, I like the steamy sex, but…). She builds romance, has alternate plots (see her JD Robb “In Death” Series), and is incredible!
Also try Judith McNaught (sex scenes aren’t too bad).
Hmm, for alternate romance…Charlotte Lamb (Harlequin Presents in the 80′s & 90′s). Sorry, I’m big into the para rom’s (write them too).

Nora Roberts is sort of jumping into the deep end of the pool for a newbie…so I would suggest a paranormal fantasy writer like KRENTZ aka CASTLE…heck even Robin Owens…they are softer…with lots of romance…lite sex…but with fantasy mystical or magical plots.
Nalini Singh is one of my favorite shape shifter/psyc romance writers…
good luck and be brave…there are some really terrific authors out there.

First — I agree with those who say, “What are you afraid of?!” If you start reading it and don’t like it, stop! If you don’t want to spend money until you’re sure, go to the library. Some of these books are a little hard to find there, but it can be done, if you have titles and authors.
There are tons of paranormal romance books out there, so if that’s your preference, you should be busy for awhile. If you don’t mind a few vampires mixed in with your steamy sex, try Alyssa Day’s Warriors of Poseidon series: Atlantis Rising, Atlantis Awakening, Atlantis Unleashed, and Atlantis Unmasked. I’d read them in order, or at least the first one first.
For romance with a little time travel, try Suzanne Frank’s Reflections in the Nile, Shadows on the Aegean, Sunrise on the Mediterranean, and Twilight in Babylon. Also Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, which begins with Outlander; there’s a little more history in those, and a more complex story.
Personally, I like many of Nora Roberts’ books, especially the ones set in Ireland. My favorites are Jewels of the Sun, Tears of the Moon, and Heart of the Sea; and Born in Fire, Born in Ice, and Born in Shame. The first set has just a little touch of faerie. Her series on the Calhouns (Catherine, Amanda, Lilah, Suzanna, and Megan) is also good, with a very tiny touch of ghosts. Some of her earliest books I don’t care for; their women are too sappy and the men insulting. Some of her most recent are so paranormal they scare me — possession and evil ghosts are not my thing at all.
No magic at all, but plenty of sex: Scruples, by Judith Krantz.
Pure historical fiction, with a good love story but no steamy sex: Into the Wilderness, by Sara Donati.
You’ve asked a lot of similar questions over the past several days. Why don’t you substitute a little library time for your computer time, and try out some of the books everyone has suggested? That way you’ll be able to identify your taste a little more specifically when you need new ideas later. Happy reading!

Nora Roberts is awesome. But steamy? Compared to some of the stuff coming out lately, I think her sex scenes are rather tame. Sexy, but tame.
Still, READ HER! I didn’t think there were any romance readers out there that haven’t read at least one of her books.
