Please do not get me wrong I thought this book was amazing. The writing was incredible and the story telling and character developments were extraordinary. However, I was so let down by the ending of the story that I could not allow myself to give it anything above a two star rating.
I read this series all at once and I could not help but feel drawn in by the romance that was shared between Rose and Demitri. In every book I was impatiently waiting for them to give in to what they were both feeling and ignore the rules of their unique society. I was beyond delighted when this finally occurred in the book “Shadow Kiss”. After days of becoming attached to the characters and their possible relationship I was so let down in the end. It became almost painful to read and left me very upset and slightly depressed.
Richelle Mead managed to redeem herself a little by finally allowing Rose to stand up to her friend Lissa. Not that Lissa is a bad character but it was very depressing to watch Rose sacrifice any ounce of happiness to please her best friend. I couldn’t have been more proud when she finally decided to do something for herself.
The author is truly gifted and this series is certainly worth anyone’s time. It is just my hope that you are not looking for or expecting a happy ending. If you are wishing for a fairy tale like finish then I assure you this book will let you down.
I am excited to see where the story leads us in the next book and it is my desire that Rose finds some happiness in the end.

She provides yet another witty, entertaining volume in her Vampire Academy saga.
I do warn however, that this book starts off at a much slower tempo than her previous (which sort of started of in media res). Just keep with it, it gets really good, and after you’re done, you’ll be aching for the next one.
A couple of issues though:
-The Dimitri/Rose relationship feels really fake and forced.
-Lissa gets annoying as hell. Her relationship with Rose also begins to feel forced.
-Lissa and Christian’s relationship also starts to get stupid.
-I have no idea how Mead is going to pull off book four. I won’t spoil the ending, but Rose does look like she’s going to be taken out of context, and that’s not good.
Either way, I guess my point is: Shadow Kiss. It may have its slow and irritating points, but the pay-off is SO worth it.

First off… I thought the first book was a little boring, but found the second to be really good. The third one is extremely entertaining all the way through and I was excited that this had turned out to be a really great series. I couldn’t put the book down, it was that good.
Then it happened. BAM! One of the main characters is gone????
How do you spend three books drilling it into our heads that there is no other person for her except :bleep:…
That there is no light at the end of the tunnel without :bleep:…
That her life is not worth living without :bleep:…
That she would go CRAZY without :bleep:…
And then you do the worst thing you could possibly do to :bleep:??? Gahhhhhh! Richelle Mead, I hate to say this, but shame on you. Bad author, badddd *shakes finger*… Why would you take :bleep: away from us?
I really, really loved this series but the ending of this book was so sad and disappointing that I don’t know if I can get through the next one… I dread sitting through what Rose is going off to do in the 4th book. I imagine curiosity will get the best of me and I will have to read it. But if this next book is even more depressing than the end of Book 3, I don’t think I will be able to handle anymore.
