I’m writing a vampire paranormal romance book. What do you think of the plot?

Question:
I am writing a Vampire Paranormal Romance book that is a little different than any I have come across, and want the opinion of the people who read them.

Synopsis:
Brooke, the main character, is witness to a vampire virus outbreak and her familys abduction. Two months later we pick up with Brooke. She has taken shelter in a secret military bunker and has learned how to shoot and how to fight. She escapes the bunker during daylight and meets a Marine named Riz, who lets her in on the secrets of the virus and the secrets to her heart. Together, Brooke and Riz, journey to New York City to find Brookes family, who are being held in a prison ran by vampires, who use their prisoners as blood donors. Brooke and Riz are separated in New York where Brooke runs into an unusually kind vampire, Alexander, who changes her mind about many things. Come to find out, Alexander has been kept in an underground jail cell at a military base since the 1800′s; one of only eight remaining full-blooded vampires who were tortured and experimented on to create a super bio-weapon, until the weapon is turned against the very people who seek to make it. Alexander helps Brooke get around his fellow vampires to find Riz and continue on her quest to find her family.

So, what do you think? It is a work in progress and I know the above is kind of spacey. I promise though, it makes more sense in the book. LOL. I am on about page fifty where Riz and Brooke have just went through their first fight. There are going to be many fight scenes and love scenes in this book, as well as wit and self-discovery. I want to know peoples honest opinions of the plot. Only serious answers please. Oh, and if anyone has any idea on how to get published, that info would be very helpful and very welcome.
Thanks— Kelly

I am writing a paranormal romance novel, what should i do now?

Question:
Am I suppose to try and finish writing the book before seeking a agent or publisher, or should I pitch them my idea first. I have already completed several chapters. Also do I even need a agent or do I just go to a publisher. Also what are some good publishers for paranormal novels in the united states.

And would you know that if I start by writing paranormal with a particular publisher if I have to keep writing that style, or if I can switch to regular romance novels at a later time.

Recommendations of books for a junior English and Creative Writing Major.?

Question:
I’ve been trying to think of books to read this summer, I have quite a few authors that I love and have read most of their works but I’m trying to broaden my range of reading.

Authors I like/have read: Charles Dickens, James Joyce, Amy Tan, Margaret Atwood, George Eliot, Aphra Behn, Emily Dickinson, Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Feehan, Tennessee Wiliams, Albert Albee, Alice Hoffman, Alice Sebold, Flannery O’Connor, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Leo Tolstoy, Jane Austen, Milan Kundera, Virginia Woolf, Fyodor Dostoevsky

If you could recommend books or authors based off this list, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks for your help.
I guess I should add the fact that I’m a COLLEGE student… Please no more recommendations of Harry Potter… I might cry.

What story should I write for National novel writing month?

Question:
Okay, I found out about this cool activity where everyone signs up and tries to write a novel(la) (at least 50000 words) in one month (November)

I have always wanted to write, and I have a few main core ideas that I have in my head, I love all my babies and I can’t really decide which one would be a good fit for the competition (for lack of a better term, no one is “competing” per say) I know its bad to get ahead of myself before I write anything at all but I can’t help thinking about it. here goes.

So here are all my ideas.

1. The Powerless- (Young adult/Sci-Fi)
Everyone on earth has super powers except for the main character, by twist of fate he ends up becoming a vigilante masked hero.

(This is a HUGE project of mine, the one I have put the most thought into so I kind of want to really work on it. Like I said, I know its not good to get too ahead of yourself but this would be part one in a 5 book series in my head. So I don’t think this is it)

2. The Machine- (Sci-Fi/Time Travel)
A group of high school students discover a time machine and after some abuse it they must deal with consequences that come with it.

Was what I was going to do originally beacuse its the freshest idea in my head, but there are just too many characters for a novella.

3. Witchpact (Urban Fantasy/Young adult)
All that wicken/witchcraft stuff that Goth kids in highschool are into turns out to be real. A normal guy accidentally gets involved in a summoning spell gone wrong and a demon is brought forth. In order to defeat the demon one of the witches makes a pact with the hero making them both very powerful…but also enslaving her to him. (but not in a bad way, he is a good guy…at first.) They deal with the rules of the pact and other magical forces in the world.

This is very influenced from anime I watched when I was younger and the concept originally started as a way to force me to practice writing female characters (of which their are a majority of in this) beacuse I was having trouble writing women in my other works. This is not a romance book, It has a real plot underneath the magic and monsters.

4. UNTITLED Pulp Sci-fi adventure
A fugitive on the run for a crime he didn’t commit. He has to make his way from Prison on Pluto across the solar system to Mercury.

The problem with this one is that I really want it to be a very hard Sci-fi story, very factual and realistic. (The trip would take more then a year) and It would be a lot of research to get all the physics and stuff right.

These are the four main stories that have been in my head. In writing this question I think I may have already answered it though, I think I’m going to go with Wtichpact. The website even says that this is just for fun and I would hate to rush stuff that I really take seriously like Powerless or the Machine. Witchpact started as an exercise anyway and even if I did write it its probably the least marketable of my ideas to real publishers (God and the Devil get involved). So at worst I could put it up for free to advertise my writing prowess.

But I would still like opinions.

Writing a book- Love interest needed?

Question:
So I’m writing something about 5 girls who have to overcome some difficult obstacles to become friends. I’ve started writing though, and it’s lacking action. It’s more of those internal conflicts with not too much running around and actually doing things. I was considering something the other day, but I’m not sure if it’s the right way to go- give the main character a love interest. Now, I’m not much of a romance writer or reader. I read Twilight and that’s pretty much my romance fill. Then again, it’s kind of clouded with vampire and other mythical creatures.
Do you have any suggestions? Just so you know, it’s a time travel story which makes me even more positive that I shouldn’t have a crush in it. But I really feel I need to get something interesting in there and that’s exactly it! Plus, even if I don’t think it’s the best right now, I’ll probably fall in love with the idea soon and never get it out of my head and have it ruin the whole thing. Any suggestions? What do you think?
Just to let people know, I do have a plan for this. It is very well planned out, but there are some gaps of time that I want to fill. The 5 girls aren’t all against eachother. It’s more like a two against two with one in the middle.

Writing, writing a story, horror, romance, paranormal, etc.?

Question:
I want to write a story with romance, horror, and vampires. I got the idea form Twilight. I don’t want to copy what a vampire is from Twilight. In your opinion what is a vampire? What do they look like? How are they destroyed? And can they reproduce, how do they turn someone else into a vampire, etc. It’s also going to be with teenagers and if you have any good ideas also tell me.
Oh and I’m just adding this now because i forgot can they go in sun or what happens if they do?
