These are really good historical ones:
-”Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry” by Mildred D. Taylor- This is one of my favorite books and it’s about an African American family named the Logan family in the 1930′s facing segregation and other hardships.
-”Let The Circle Be Unbroken” by Mildred D. Taylor- The continuation of Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
-”To Kill A Mocking Bird”
L A Banks
Octavia Butler
Seressia Glass
Tananarive Due
Walter Mosely
E. Lynn Harris
Brandon Massey
Steven Barnes
J. M. Jeffries
Anthologies:
Vegas Bites
Creepin
