  1. I love Harrison’s novels and usually purchase them for my kindle, but I was shocked by the price of her latest. I just can’t justify paying more than $9.99, although I like to buy ebooks to support my favorite authors. I’ll be going to the library for this installment!

  2. this book arrived promptly and the cover was in good condition. however when i opened the book, the spine was broken in the front and the page was coming out of the book. i did not expect this book to be in this condition. i will not order from this seller again because of this.

  4. …don’t get this if you haven’t read every other book. I kept thinking how lost someone would be coming to the series with this book – this isn’t a stand alone novel.

  5. I actually liked this installment, maybe the best of the bunch although the last book was really good as well. There is more plot and less soap opera stuff about Rachel & her roomie / girlfriend / lover vampire friend. That was really getting old and I am glad they seemed to be past that part. Each of these books has been just better enough to get me to read the next one. The first few of the series were barely tolerable, but since I was handed a stack of the first 3-4, who was I to complain. The author has honed her skills somewhat and the characters are stronger in this book, more defined, more tangible. Take Glen and Edden, they really shine in this book and it was great to see how far these characters have come and developed. Also glad that the main villain is not an ex boy friend of Rachel’s or anything else from her past.

Make no mistake tho, this is just episodic, serial fiction. Its not grand literature, its basically a TV series in book form. Enjoyable nonetheless. I don’t know why vampire books are so popular, there seem to be several series. This is the one I’ve hung my hat on tho, for better or worse. I think you could do nothing but read vampire series all the time if you wanted.

Two parts I found, well, just silly and poorly done was the bit about Rachel wanting to teach Al (her demon teacher) a lesson about grabbing people she was friends with. Just seemed, awkward – as if the author was reaching for an excuse for Rachel to summon the demon for the finale. I could think of any number of smoother ways to handle this. Also, the author introduces a new potential love interest that seems very manufactured. Rachel “remembers” a handsome hunky ghost that swpet her off her feet long ago and now he needs rescuing. Everyone remembers him (Pierce) but us, the reader – thats because the author just made him up for this book.

I kept thinking, wait did I miss a book? They’re acting like Piece is a mainstream character, but no, its just something the author made up to make it easier to establish a new love interest.
