Oh you will definitely love The Mortal Instruments Series. It is exactly what you are looking for. It’s got the hot, sexy guy with the girl who can defend herself. Those are my favs right now. Especially Tempest Rising.
I like Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan. They both have great paranormals. Christina Dodd also has a series of 4 books called “Darkness Chosen” and another series in the works. There is also the Arcane Society series by Amanda Quick/Jane Ann Krantz. Those span time and are written under both names. She also writes paranormals under the name Jayne Castle.

Mark of a Lion was a great book
even thought its historical u won’t be able to put it down.
It has everything adventure, action, romance, history , thriller.
Also another book that I think you will like is The Claidi Collection by Tanith Lee. It has four books because it has romance and paranormal
The black dagger brotherhood series by JR WARD. it’s contemporary, has hot vamps, all it took was one book and i was hooked, Try Lover Awakened or Lover Mine, there my favs
